And if you can, please dig into your pockets again to help the Team's fundraising efforts. John/Jock right now is in second place when it comes to raising money to support Mercy Corps and its extraordinary humanitarian projects in Mongolia.
Don't we want him to be in first?

Sep 3th Victory Message:
"Completed Mongol Derby on 22nd horse yesterday, Wednesday, at approximately 1 p.m. Mongolian time (5 a.m. Denmark time.) Last but not least and came in equal with mad Colonel Kiwi Dave Coleman (open heart surgery last year) and hurting fellow Scot Carina Oliver (bucked off twice). Just arrived back in Ulan bataar, after 14 hr jeep ride, nice to get a hot bath and no more mutton! Jock"
Sep 2nd: He's Safe and Sound, and He's completed the race!
Thanks to the miracle of FaceBook, and at the same time, a call from JockÕs Nephew Buddy (who just talked with the event founder) Jock is not only safe, heÕs having a celebratory drink and playing the bagpipes virtually simultaneously. Really.
"The line kept breaking up, and there was sooo much boozy cheering in the background, but he did genuinely play the bagpipes," Buddy just told a "Last But Not Least" team member.
"It has been a truly wonderful experience, as tough as was expected, but more beautiful than I could have ever imagined. Now, its time to celebrate!" Buddy guarantees us Jock said that! And if you've seen Buddy's video on Jock's site, you know he couldn't mislead us.
So, this is your last chance to help Jock move into first place in fundraising, though we don't think he made first place in the race. Frankly, we thank the fundraising is more important!
Thanks for tuning in. And if you'd like one more quick look at Jock's page, please head to [put link for last but not least page] We at some point will be posting pictures of Jock
Breaking news Aug 26: We finally heard from Jock again!
Four days into the race, he's finally come close to a wireless signal. "There is a low signal here as we are near a town, otherwise I have not had a signal for several days," Jock told a " Last But Not Least" support person in Denmark on Tuesday. "I am fine, very tired, and feeling a bit fluey, perhaps it is the altitude. But it is a fantastic experience The countryside is beautiful, the steppe amazing. I look around and 3-500 meters all round I see nothing but grass hills or mountains and the local nomads are as friendly as I had been told, but I am still amazed by their kindness to us people are something extraordinary." The race is as expected, tough. Already at the start line several riders came of their mounts. Some have already been to the hospital some have dropped out. "I am riding in a group with two other contestants. We are determined to enjoy it as well as competing. Spending the nights in Gerds, experiencing the hieraky within the family, with grandmother being the superior. The men live on one side of the Gerd and the women on the other. Their dogs are big and fierce they look very similar to the dog we had in Honduras, big black Alsatian like. All you hear are the dogs barking and the horses 'wining'. So beautiful and peaceful."
